WOODBURY is one of four villages to benefit from �50,000 worth of council funding for their community hall.Hawkchurch, Branscombe, Woodbury and Alfington have successfully bid for the funding from East Devon District Council and the Community Council of Devon's County Grants Scheme. Out of the 30 community building bids submitted throughout the whole of Devon, 13 were successful, taking 24 per cent of the funds.Woodbury Community Hall on Woodbury Lane will receive �5,804 to help them remove the asbestos from their building; Hawkchurch Village Hall will receive �6,359 to help them replace their roof; Branscombe Village Hall will receive �27,994 towards replacing their roof and heating while Alfington Village Hall will receive �2,625 towards kitchen and heating improvements. Communities can apply for grants for a village hall or community centre: up to �3,000 from East Devon District Council and up to �30,000 from the Community Council of Devon.A spokesperson for EDDC said: "Eligible projects include refurbishments or extensions to the structure of the building including toilets, kitchens, roofs, heating, doors and similar."You can apply any time but applications are considered twice a year; the next deadline will be on June 30.
