EXMOUTH'S popular Christmas carols on the quay in aid of the RNLI makes a welcome return on Tuesday December 16 - and this year promises to be better than ever.

The festive evening of fun, this year sponsored by Eezi UK Ltd, starts at 7pm with a performance by the Exmouth Shanty Men.

The Sidmouth Steppers will also be entertaining the crowds with their fancy footwork.

Carols led by Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir start at 7.30pm.

The evening is organised by the Exmouth Quay Residents' Association, who will be carrying out a bucket collection throughout the evening.

Mince pies and mulled wine will also be served.

Exmouth lifeboat crew will be in attendance, duties permitting, with the inshore lifeboat.

The all-weather boat, decorated with fairy lights, will be moored in the quay basin.

The organisers hope visitors will bring along torches to add to the festive atmosphere.

Quay carols spokesman Ian Dowell said last year's event raised more than £600 for the town's new lifeboat station.

Mr Dowell said: "Although we are a new community what please us is that so many people join us from all parts of Exmouth - we feel we are growing closer to the more established parts of the town.
