A GROUND floor residential care home in Salterton Road is set to be converted into 10 bed sits.

The owners of Chestnuts, 65 Salterton Road, want o change the ground floor into 10 rooms with en-suite facilities, with a separate living area and two cooking areas.

Town councillors backed the plans and Councillor Sandy Sutton said: "It is really change of use - there are 10 bedrooms and nine are single. I have no problem with it."

The plans will now be decided by district planners.
