SPEED on the roads surrounding Bassets Farm Primary School could soon be reduced according to a new proposal.

A public consultation has been launched to reduce the maximum speed limits of Cheshire Road, St John's Road, Withycombe Park Drive and York Close to 20mph.

Devon County Council plans to reduce the speed to provide a safe environment and to encourage children and residents to cycle and walk more in the area.

Residents and motorists have until January 19 to submit any comments on the proposals.

Comments should be sent to Roger Gash, County Solicitor, Devon County Council, County Hall, Exeter, EX2 4QD.
