A car was left overhanging the cliff edge at Coastguard Hill, Budleigh Salterton, on Sunday (September 4) after an incident near the war memorial.

Police were called out at around 10.45pm to respond to reports of a single car road traffic accident in Coastguard Hill.

Officers confirmed a Peugeot 207 was overhanging the cliff edge and that all people were safely freed from the car.

The incident caused some damage to a chain barrier, which protects the war memorial.

Devon County Council highways was notified of damage to the barrier and police tape was erected.

Police left the scene at around 12.20am.
