A cancer charity is searching for volunteers in East Devon to help ‘isolated’ people suffering with the disease.

Exeter Leukaemia Fund is looking for people to join its ELF@home project, a befriending service which sees volunteers visit patient’s homes and provide comfort to those with blood cancer. Project manager Sue Rose said: “The patient-led service will be invaluable.

“When people are in hospital and receiving treatment they have support, but when they are transferred to home it is a very different environment where some can feel alone and isolated.”

A three-day course is to be held from Tuesday, April 18, free of charge, venue yet to be confirmed. For more information, contact Sue Rose on 07841 027228 or email
