Camping shame

PUBLISHED: 07:00 27 April 2013

Over the Easter holidays I came across two lads in a tent in local woodland.

Not being a total killjoy, I said please don’t light a fire, the woods are dry, and left with my dogs.

I came back to find thousands of advertising flyers dumped in the lake, along with food tins and plastic cups; the remains of a fire; a mess of ravioli and macaroni, not even buried; tins, plastics bottles and empty doughnut boxes.

The lads had hacked down a sapling just for fun, apparently, with their big Swiss Army knife.

No matter how kindly you treat younger people, they always seem to throw it back at you.
