OUTDOOR adventure is in store for the next Ray Mears and Bear Grylls, as a new project will school Exmouth youngsters in bushcraft skills.Teenagers aged 13 to 15 can conquer the great outdoors with a new, free course run by the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers. Youth project experts Rob Byrnes and Brian Daniel will guide participants through an introduction into survival skills and the natural world, aiming to help youngsters enjoy the summer and boost their confidence.Rob said: "My purpose is to use an outdoor setting in order to assist these folk in engaging with themselves in a healthy and positive manner. Sounds like a free holiday, but it is much more than that."The course starts with a taster session on bushcraft skills such as fire-lighting and shelter building, on Tuesday from noon to 3pm.The full course, funded by Connexions, will take place on Dartmoor, between Wednesday, August 27, and Saturday, August 30.For further information, including the venue for the taster session, and to book places on the course, contact Dean Price on (01752) 301416.
