I wondered how many people have been left standing at the 57 bus stop in Barrack Road after 4.30pm because Stagecoach are using single-decker buses at busy times from Exeter to Exmouth. The single-decker buses are full after four stops! Even if you are lucky enough to get on the bus, the likelihood is that you will stand until it reaches Topsham. I have become used to the service not running on time in the evenings, but I am now regularly waiting 30-40 minutes before being able to get on a bus. They seem to be one of the only bus services to run single-deckers at this time and who do not keep to a timetable.Stagecoach have informed me they are monitoring the situation. The bus drivers are the ones bearing the brunt of people moaning to them and they blame the 'management'. Enough monitoring - is it that difficult to run double-deckers in the evening? There seems to be enough of double-deckers running empty during the day!In the meantime, however much longer that will be, I am going to be taking my car to work - it is a cheaper option and I get home in 30 minutes instead of over an hour. Until such time that Stagecoach run a reliable commuter service (and I guess it would be too much to ask to make the fares cheaper), I shall be increasing my carbon footprint which saddens me.Mary Wise,Hulham Road, Exmouth.
