Budleigh youngsters taste foods for the first time in healthy eating week

A healthy eating week, which culminated in a barbecue, has contributed towards children eating more lunchtime vegetables.
St Peter’s Primary School held a week of healthy eating-based activities to further the youngsters’ understanding of eating well.
This ended with pupils from years five and six holding a barbecue at the end of the week for them to show off what they had learned. They created kebab skewers using vegetables, such as peppers.
Event coordinator Jemima Moore said the scheme had made a lasting impact on the children’s eating habits.
She said: “Our lunchtime staff reported higher levels of vegetable consumption during the week.
“Classes enjoyed a range of practical healthy eating activities and enjoyed tasting some new foods for the first time.”
