BUDLEIGH Salterton police community support officer Chantalle Major is expecting her second child and will be on restricted duties from now until after the birth.

Budleigh Salterton neighbourhood beat manager PC David Lea said PCSO Major's new duties would continue to benefit the town.

PC Lea said: "To make the best use of her time we have devised a new duty scheme with the intention of opening the police station once a week during weekdays and once every other Saturday.

"By doing this it retains PCSO Major in the town rather than being taken away to Exmouth or HQ for some project or admin work.

"I will do my utmost to ensure that she spends the maximum amount of time in Budleigh Salterton and that her time is put to constructive use.
