Budleigh Salterton looks set to be getting another beauty salon after plans were approved this week.

A change of use application to transform the ground floor of the former Tax World premises, in High Street, into a beauty salon has been given the go-ahead by East Devon District Council (EDDC) planners under delegated powers.

EDDC’s delegated report said: “The site is located in the built-up area as well as the town centre shopping area.

“Therefore the proposed use is considered suitable and sustainable.”

Previously, Budleigh Salterton Town Council had supported the application saying it would conform with the town’s neighbourhood plan.

In his ward member comments, district councillor Tom Wright added: “A beauty salon will provide more employment opportunities but I would point out that Budleigh high street already has three such establishments.”
