PUPILS from St Peter's Primary School are giving youngsters in Moldova a happy Christmas after collecting 79 shoe boxes stuffed full of festive goodies.

The Budleigh Salterton pupils' boxes will be donated to the Christian Aid Response Christmas shoe box appeal.

St Peter's School spokeswoman Lisa Broad said: "The children and parents really enjoyed making them and some families even came with four or five boxes.

"I am also very grateful to the people who knitted scarves, gloves and hats to go into the boxes.

"We enjoyed having a shoebox mountain and aim to get 100 next year.
