BUDLEIGH Salterton film lovers are celebrating being given the green-light to use the Public Hall for a cinema club. The town council this week agreed Budleigh Salterton Film Society could hold its get-togethers in the Public Hall after meeting with chairman Stuart Yerrell to thrash out the details over erecting equipment. The film club hopes to be up and running by the autumn. The council's decision to license the hall for the sale of alcohol means film society members can enjoy a tipple while they watch.Mr Yerrell said he was pleased the council had agreed to back the venture."We have already put in a lot of hard work, so, now that we have the green light, we shall be sending out a mailing to prospective members inviting them to send in their subscriptions. We need to raise a lot of money, but we are confident that we shall be able to start our first film season in September," he said. "We were amazed by the enthusiasm for the idea of a film society. Now we can make it a reality.
