The Budleigh Salterton Lions would like to extend a ‘huge’ thank you to everyone who turned up for the annual Duck Race on the River Otter.

Around 1,100 ducks were released onto the river on Sunday, September 30, raising a total of £1,741.

Organiser Geoff Paver said: “Budleigh Lions would like to say a very sincere thank you to our local fire crew, the parents and all the children who braved the
very cold water and walked behind the ducks, helping them on their way.

“Their help was very much appreciated as we couldn’t do the race without them.

Hopefully the extremely cold water this year hasn’t put
them off from helping us next year.”

First place went to duck number 883 sponsored by Mrs Atkins who received a £200 prize.

Second place was awarded to Tony Perry’s duck number 413, with Terry taking away a £100 prize.
