AN application to build a home on the site of a garage and workshop at Cornerways, in Knowle Village, has failed to win the support of Budleigh Salterton Town Council.
The members said the proposed development was an overdevelopment of the site and would be detrimental to the street scene.
Councillor John Shiel said: "I was going to suggest they put a wheel in. It's about the right size for a hamster. It's quite a small plot.
"It's really trying to shoe-horn something into a spot which is not large enough.
"This is cramming with a capital C."
The plans will go before the district council, who will make the final decision.
