Residents in Budleigh Salterton who have had their television signal affected by a new mobile phone signal are being offered free help.

New forth generation (4G) mobile services have been made available in the town, however, in some cases this is causing interference with Freeview signals.

The frequencies of the television signal and 4G mobile are so close that receivers in ‘set-top’ boxes can overload, causing interference.

Now a company called At800, set up under national government direction, is offering to help residents in Budleigh for free.

Ben Roome, CEO of At800, said: “If you rely on Freeview for TV, we can send you a filter to fit yourself, free of charge, which fits into the area lead connecting to TVs and set-top boxes to block mobile signals.

“In most instances, fitting the filter will resolve any interference from 4G at 800 megahertz.”
