A plan to convert the King Billy, High Street, Budleigh Salterton, has been backed by the town council

A planning application to convert a Budleigh Salterton pub into a shop was given the backing of the town council.

At a council meeting on Monday, town councillors voted in favour of backing the change of use application for the King Billy, High Street.

If given the go ahead, the pub could be converted into a shop with a flat.

At the same meeting, the council refused to support an application to build a new house on land in Lansdowne Road.

The council also gave their support to a plan to build extensions in Little Knowle and East Budleigh Road.

An application to demolish a garage and summer house to build a new garage and parking bay in Boucher Road was also backed by the council.

Proposals to install terraced roof lights in Bedlands Lane and a two-storey extension in Moormead were also supported.

Final decisions on all the applications will be made by East Devon District Council.
