Budleigh Salterton Lions Club has raised vital funds for the town’s Christmas illuminations.

One of the club’s monthly bingo events, held at the Dog and Donkey pub, in Knowle, raised £480 for the lights, which are managed by Budleigh and District Chamber of Commerce.

Lions chairman Alan Tilbury handed over a cheque to chamber chairman Mike Hilliar.

Budleigh Lions Club also donated £590 for a shelter box to go to Caribbean islands affected by Hurricane Irma. The package will include enough equipment, cooking facilities and a water purification kit for up to 10 people.

A cash bingo night is also being held by the lions club at Budleigh Salterton Football Club on Friday, September 29. Eyes down at 7.30pm and proceeds will go to the town’s returning carnival which takes place the next day.
