The manager of Budleigh Salterton’s library is set to leave next week, ending 37 years of service.

Margaret Hallett, who will leave her position at the library on Wednesday, June 28, is being hailed as a ‘real asset’ to the town.

Hundreds of well-wishers have already signed a goodbye card for Margaret, who is credited with making the library, in Station Road, a ‘welcoming and well-run community facility’.

One comment in the card from a library user: “Margaret has been there for my children from birth and now they are all in secondary school, she has inspired my children to find a love of reading.”

Another well-wisher said: “Margaret has helped me on the computer so much.”

People who want to thank Margaret for her many years of service can sign the card and donate to her leaving present. Both the card and the collection are held in ‘Pebbles’ gift shop in High Street.
