Golfers from Budleigh Salterton have raised vital funds for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) through competitions and charity events.

Representatives from Budleigh Town Golf Club presented the charity with a cheque for £1,303 raised throughout 2016.

Club chairman Viv Edgecumbe said: “As the captain, I decided to focus a lot of our efforts this year towards raising money for the DAAT.

“The air ambulance was chosen as it’s often involved in operations in the town.”

The money was raised through golf club competitions and a sponsored 15-mile walk from Exeter to Budleigh by Viv, which raised £600.

A Hallowe’en fancy dress disco was also held by the golf club at at the town’s football club, raising more than £300.

The football club was recently announced as the destination for a night-time landing pad for the air ambulance.
