Crowds gathered in the car park of Pinewood Residential and Nursing Home to witness the night sky above Budleigh illuminated by the fireworks.

A bumper crowd turned out as fireworks illuminated the sky above Budleigh Salterton on Saturday.

The town’s only organised display was hailed a huge success with organisers reporting increased crowd numbers from previous years.

Pinewood residents were joined by members of the public as the fireworks were let off from Jubilee Field by members of the Lions Club of Budleigh Salterton.

Devon Freewheelers were also on hand to provide the barbecue.

Donation collections raised more than £950 for the lions club while the final figure for the freewheelers is yet to be confirmed.

Phillip Sadeghi, managing director of Pinewood Residential and Nursing Home said: “It was a fabulous event and we are really grateful to the lions and the Devon Freewheelers.”
