A Budleigh Salterton filmmaker has re-launched his bid for an Oscar - with filming of his latest flick now due to take place on the town’s seafront.
Nick Eriksson, 28, of Frewins, had been due to begin filming on Ellston Bay in Cornwall next month.
However, filming on the short film has now been relocated to his home town.
His crowdfunding bid on the Kickstarter website has also been re-launched with a target of £15,000.
Nick said: “It made a lot of sense to move filming to Budleigh and it has become a lot more straightforward.
“Budleigh is my home town, which makes it more special.”
When filming does begin, Nick is hopeful that 70 per cent of shooting will take place on Budleigh seafront.
The rest will take place in a property in the town, although the location of the house is yet to be confirmed.
The film will follow protagonist Keir, played by Steven Elder, as he travels to the bay in search of his father, played by John Rhys-Davies, who lives alone in an isolated property.
After taking a swim in the sea at Ellston Bay, he discovers a dark secret about the village.
If all goes to plan, it will be entered into Festival de Cannes. It is hoped this will lead to an entry into the short film category of the Academy Awards in Hollywood.
Kickstarter allows people to pledge money to the project in return for prizes from the film.
It also allows Nick to gauge public demand for the film.
