FILM lovers from Budleigh Salterton will be treated to a tense thriller which is set in South Africa.
Budeligh Film Society will screen a movie, called Tsotsi, a tale of violence, robbery and murder, in The Public Hall on Wednesday, February 10.
The movie is based on a novel by author and playwriter Athol Fugard. Tsotsi, ghetto language for 'thug', is a 19-year-old leader of a gang in the Johannesburg township of Soweto.
His life takes an unexpected turn when he shoots a woman in a wealthy suburb and steals her car - only to discover a baby on the back seat.
The film follows the next six days in Tsotsi's life, as he struggles between his violent nature and a growing feeling of kindness for the infant and its future welfare.
The society's next screening will be The Darjeeling Ltd on Wednesday, March 10.
