SEVEN crimes were recorded by police in Budleigh Salterton in a three week period between the end of November and early December.

One of the reports, for the period from Monday, November 23, until last Sunday, December 12, was for a theft of a mobile phone.

A police spokesperson said: "The phone was perceived stolen whilst the owner was travelling by bus from Exmouth to Budleigh. The aggrieved was unsure how the item disappeared."

* Police received a report of criminal damage to a vehicle by a visitor from Essex. Minor damage occurred to the wiper blade of the vehicle.

* Two crimes were linked. Last Saturday, December 12, a man from Newton Poppleford was arrested and charged in connection with two counts of criminal damage to a High Street business and dwelling.

* Damage was caused to a wooden window frame by a holly bush and two incidents were non-crime domestic cases.

The police spokesperson added: "The Budleigh Salterton neighbourhood beat team was in attendance for the late-night shopping event held on Sunday, November 29.

"It was a lively evening but passed with no incidents reported.

"The beat team held an evening get-together for Budleigh Salterton neighbourhood watch at the public hall on Monday, November 30.

"Although it was sparsely attended, those who did enjoyed an informative meeting with guest speakers from HQ Middlemoor presenting 'What happens to your call.'
