Budleigh Salterton has thrown a farewell party in honour of a popular minister who dedicated more than a decade of his life to the community.

The Reverend Jonathan Froggatt and his wife Louise will soon be leaving the town when he takes up his new position at Braunton Methodist Church, in North Devon.

He has spent 12 years at the head of Temple Methodist Church, in Fore Street, and friends and churchgoers gathered to bid him a fond farewell.

Mayor Tom Wright also attended and presented Mr Froggatt with a plaque for his contributions on behalf of the Budleigh community.

He will be replaced in the role by The Reverend Wayne Grewcock, who will start work with the Exeter Circuit – basing himself at Budleigh and Exmouth Methodist churches – in September.

A spokesperson for Temple Methodist Church said Jonathan had ‘done a lot of good’ in the town.
