THE standard of work on display at Budleigh Salterton Art Club's 2009 exhibition has been praised by an internationally-renowned artist.

Art club president Alan Cotton, from Colaton Raleigh, said the paintings on display at this year's exhibition were of a 'terrific' standard.

His comments came during the club's recent preview evening, which was opened by chairman Nicky Carson.

She thanked everyone who had worked hard to make the 2009 exhibition a success.

And the club members were praised for their talented contributions. The evening was attended by score of well wishers and the town mayor, councilor Courtney Richards.

The week long exhibition was held at the Public Hall, where there more than 200 framed pictures and a variety of 3D works on display, as well as many unframed pictures.

A landscape pastel painting by Paul Hardy was offered as the prize for the charitable raffle, in aid of the Alzheimers Society.
