Bride Alyx Humphries shunned the limo in favour of a boat when she wed Ben Parker, from Exmouth.
The bride went by boat to her wedding at Lympstone as a tribute to her much-loved dad.
Alyx Humphries was keen to involve her dad, Cliff, who died in 2009, in her special day so she travelled to church by boat as a nod to his love of the water.
Alyx, who married Ben Parker, of Salisbury Road, Exmouth, boarded the vessel at Starcross with her bridesmaids – her sister Angela Toy, and friend Claire Whitfield – and was ferried across the river Exe to Exmouth docks.
The bridal party was met by the bride’s mother, Gabi Humphries, and Alyx’s former piano teacher, Gerald Swainger, who gave her away.
Happy couple Alyx and Ben married at the Lympstone Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The service was co-officiated by the bride’s uncle, Reverend Sid Humphries, Deacon.
Gabi Humphries, the bride’s mum, said: “Sadly Alyx and Angela’s dad,
Cliff, passed away in 2009 and so they felt a trip across the river with his best friend, Tommy Dell, was a way to remember him on this happy occasion, as he had been a keen boater and member of Starcross Fishing and Cruising Club.”
The new Mr and Mrs Parker celebrated their marriage with friends and family at Lympstone village hall.
