Brianna given Miss England hope after missing final with illness

A Littleham teenager, whose hopes of becoming Miss England were dashed by a health scare, has been given automatic entry into next year's contest.
Brianna Evans, 17, of Lestock Close, had made it the national finals after being crowned Miss Devon earlier this year.
She had to pull out of the competition after she had to undergo an emergency operation following medical tests. Organisers have now given Brianna the opportunity to extend her Devon title and compete in next year’s Miss England semi-finals. It will give her 10 months to prepare.
Brianna said: “I had to have an emergency operation and they wouldn’t let me change it in case the situation worsened while I was gone.
“So I was in hospital instead of on the Miss England stage - it was awful not being able to attend. I watched the live stream from the hospital bed, though, and it looked amazing.”
Director of Miss England Angie Beasley said: “We were very concerned about Brianna as she was the only finalist not to attend the national final and I sincerely hope she is well enough (to compete in the semi finals) and 100 per cent fully recovered.
