Councillor Brian Cole has been chosen to serve a second year as Mayor of Exmouth.

He was re-elected unopposed to the role by fellow members of Exmouth Town Council at its annual meeting.

Councillor Jeff Trail was re-elected as deputy mayor, ahead of Councillor Steve Gazzard.

Commenting on his re-election, Cllr Cole told councillors: “It has been an honour and privilege to serve as the Mayor for the past year. I have met some wonderful volunteers working within our community and without whom Exmouth would be very much the poorer.

“I am grateful to councillors for endorsing my continuation as mayor for a second year.

“As I commence my second year of office, I would like to assure councillors of my continued commitment to encouraging our town to become forward looking and a welcoming place to all its visitors, on whom we rely for much of our prosperity.”
