Exmouth RNLI volunteer Brian Abbott is pictured here at Exmouth Pavilion giving his 78th pint of blood, just weeks after being presented with an award for making more than 75 donations.

Lifeboat deputy launching authority, Brian Abbott, 65, recently joined 70 Devon donors-of-excellence at a presentation evening, where he was commended for his selfless efforts and presented with a Royal Doulton crystal bowl at an award ceremony held at Bovey Castle, on Dartmoor.

Mr Abbott said his ‘be positive’ attitude matched his blood type.

The lifeboat volunteer, who has donated the equivalent amount of blood found in seven adults and one child, hopes to continue donating three times a year. He is aiming to donate more than 100 pints of blood.
