RESIDENTS say they are lucky to be alive after a blaze ripped through Ottery St Mary's old fire station this morning.
Six fire crews, police and ambulances responded to calls about the incident, in Batts Lane, at around 6.15am and arrived at the scene within minutes.
Buildings near to the pub were evacuated and a woman has been treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
However, Paul Slaven, of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, said as yet there were no reports of any other injuries as a result of the blaze.
