A FORMER British champion, a former world champion and a Mike Tyson sparring partner will be the guests at Lympstone Amateur Boxing Club s first tournament of the new season.

A FORMER British champion, a former world champion and a Mike Tyson sparring partner will be the guests at Lympstone Amateur Boxing Club's first tournament of the new season.

Aptly billed as 'A Night of Champions' the tournament on Friday October 16 will see 32 boxers square off in 16 bouts.

Guest includes seven times Irish Heavyweight Champion Big Joe Egan - who was Mike Tyson's former sparring partner and fought former champions Lennox Lewis and Steve Collins.

Devon's home-grown former British and Commonwealth middleweight king, Scott Dann, who is preparing for a comeback is also a guest, as is come backing former IBO lightweight champion, Jason Cook.

Club secretary Neil Parsons said: "To get not one but three of them is excellent news. The boxers are training hard and it will be a great evening."

Seniors meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 7.15pm to 8.45pm with ladies Monday to Wednesday 6pm to 7pm.

A new junior non contact course for boys and girls from nine to 15 starts next week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm to 7pm with junior competition members on Tuesdays and Thursdays from7.15pm to 8.45pm.
