An Alzheimer’s charity shop will benefit from £400 raised with support from staff from an Exmouth opticians, who were inspired to help following a dementia awareness training scheme.

The Exmouth Specsavers team, who recently took part in the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends training programme, carried out free MOTs on glasses, held a prize draw to win some designer specs and had a jumble sale outside the store, to raise money for Exmouth Cares.

Specsavers store director Ria Heskins says: “Being more aware of dementia is an incredibly positive development for our team and our offering to customers.”
