A PENSIONER, who has lived in Woodbury all his life, will share his memories with Journal readers.

Bob Miller, of Thorns Cottage, has just celebrated his 90th birthday at a party attended by relatives from four generations.

He enjoyed the day in the company of his wife Nora, 88, son Robert, grandchildren Kevin, Lee and Hayley, and great grandchildren Amber, Scarlet and Finley.

The family held a party at the White Hart Pub last Saturday, July 12, writes Graham Britton.

Bob said: "I had a great time. I received over 50 cards and people were calling in to wish me a happy birthday."

Nora, who has been married to her husband for more than 65 years, said: "I think he was a bit exhausted at the end of the party because you can only stand for so long when you are his age.

"We're just starting to recover from the day now," she joked.

Nora said perhaps one of the reasons Bob had lived such a long life was because he was so sporty in the early part of his life.

"He has an array of cups and medals to show for his achievements. It is only now that his health has started to slip a little," she explained.

"Earlier in his life he had his own business. He was a self-employed painter and decorator - a company he ran with our son, Robert."

Nora added: "He loves Woodbury. We have lived in our cottage for at least 60 years. The place, however, has changed from what it was like many years ago."

? As part of a series of articles which starts in next's week Exmouth Journal, Bob will reflect on life in Woodbury in bygone years.
