The former chairman of Exmouth in Bloom, Pat Graham, whose leadership led to more than 20 major floral awards for the town, was honoured by her town council colleagues this week.

Pat, 74, was honoured with an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list earlier this year for 19 years of service with Exmouth in Bloom. She is also a founder member of Exmouth Town Council – she became a councillor in the same year.

Mayor Maddie Chapman presented her with a bouquet of flowers (see picture). Pat said: “The MBE was a complete surprise. I just wanted to give something back to Exmouth.

“It was such lovely surprise and I still have no idea who nominated me.

“I have had such a brilliant time doing it and that is why it is so humbling to be given an MBE
