ONE of Devon's three bishops flew into Dunkeswell airfield at the start of a week-long visit to East Devon, on Thursday.The Bishop of Crediton, the Rt Rev Bob Evens, has been spending the time visiting schools, churches, farms and hospitals.The visit was part of a three month 'mission' period, in which each of the three bishops of the Church of England in Devon are spending the next ten weeks out on the county roads to listen to people's concerns and celebrate their achievements.The pilgrimage is part of this year's celebrations to mark the 1,100th anniversary of the first permanent Bishop for Devon. The celebrations will culminate in a huge open-air celebration on June 27, outside Exeter Cathedral.After flying into Dunkeswell, Bishop Bob spoke to business leaders based at the airfield, before going on to visit the Otter Brewery. Before his visit, Bishop Bob said: "I am looking forward to spending some time listening to, and living alongside, people in this beautiful part of Devon. I want to use this pilgrimage as an opportunity to say thank you to the people who are making enormous contributions to keeping their communities alive.
