Bid to tackle village traffic problem

PUBLISHED: 09:00 26 September 2014

A working party has been formed to find a solution to the problem of speeding traffic through Knowle village.

The issue was raised at a recent public meeting at the village’s Britannia Inn, which more than 50 residents attended, along with councillors.

Those present were able to raise their growing concerns about the speed of vehicles.

A working party of 10 volunteers was formed to consider solutions, and this will report to Budleigh Salterton Town Council’s traffic committee meeting in October.

Working party spokesperson Carol Harris is also keeping a record of near-miss incidents with vehicles. She said: “We feel very strongly that we have to take this through to a solution.”

The next community event at the Britannia is a community supper tomorrow (Friday) at 7pm, where villagers will be able to talk to local police.
