Best friends fundraise for children in Syria

Most children spend their half-term having fun, but an Exmouth teenager took it upon herself to raise money for children in Syria.
Sophie Butt, 13, of Exmouth, has collected £182 for Save the Children after completing a five-mile run with her friend, Sophie Blackett, aged 12. They ran from Exmouth town centre to Orcombe Point.
The cross-country runner aims to raise more than £200 for children in Syria after watching a video on the internet showing a girl who had bombs drop on her while celebrating her birthday.
She said: “I was looking at Facebook and I saw a video of a little girl in Syria and I just sort of thought about it.
“I told my friend I was thinking of doing something for charity and we went for it.
“We thought of doing a big run so we could really think about how we would be changing someone’s life.
“If we did just a small run, it wouldn’t help as much as it would not raise as much money.”
