Children from Beacon Primary School tested their running, throwing and jumping skills with proud parents watching on.

Pupils at Beacon Primary School took advantage of the good autumn weather to display their sporting skills on Tuesday.

With proud parents watching on, youngsters from across the school were divided into two teams – green and yellow – for the athletics-led event.

The first part of the event centred around the youngsters learning team skills in a non-competitive environment.

In the second part of the event, they competed in a number of sporting disciplines which tested their running, jumping and throwing skills.

PE teacher Amanda Pow said the sports day was held in autumn rather than the traditional summer date as a way to introduce new parents and children to the school.

She said: “The children persevered through a number of events and showed great determination.

“They worked well has a team and displayed sporting skills.”
