Exmouth’s own radio station, Bay FM, is celebrating the results of new survey figures.

A review carried out on 200 cars during August by Mid Devon Tyres garage, in Salterton Road, showed the community radio station now attracts 13 per cent of people listening in the area each week.

Station manager Andy Green asked the garage to chart the listening habits of customers when the ignition was switched on, registering the station left on the radio.

Mr Green said: “We’ve been using this idea for over two years and the results are very consistent. The methodology is so simple and credible and it’s not hearsay. It actually proves what station people are actually listening to in the car.

“We are extremely delighted with these results, especially when you compare ours to a popular national station like Radio 2, which came out at 15 per cent.”
