Members of the Exmouth & Budleigh Anglo-French Society met up at Bicton Gardens on July 14 to celebrate Bastille Day, France’s national day. All were suitably decked out in ‘bleu, blanc, rouge’, the colours of the French flag.
After a pleasant walk round the gardens, chatting in French, members boarded the train. During the ride, they gave a rousing rendition of The Marseillaise, the French national anthem, before heading to the Orangery for refreshments.
“It was a very pleasant day out,” said new Chair of the Society, Marian Beaumont. “We are planning to resume our regular activities again in September.
“We currently meet monthly in Budleigh on a Monday evening and would very much welcome new members with an interest in all things French.”
The next meeting will take place on Monday, September 27 at the Norman Centre, Budleigh Salterton, 7.30 pm. Contact Marian on 07812 899635.
