Bar motorhomes from seafront

Local folk get great enjoyment from their cars parked facing out to sea, adjacent to Orcombe Point in the echelon parking bays.

This last summer, however, there was a large increase in motor homes choosing this spot, often as many as fifteen, and there is a danger both to children running past them into the traffic and to car drivers reversing their cars out of the parking bays.

Some motor homes have to park their front wheels actually on the Esplanade due to their length and a small car flanked by two such vehicles has a very limited view of the sea and faces considerable danger reversing out into the traffic stream, due to limited visibility.

I understand that motor homes are able to park all day for a parking fee of £5 and able to stay all night for free enjoying idyllic sea-front dawns.

I'm sure they share this information with their motor home club mates. I can envisage a time when locals will not be able to park and enjoy the facilities due to the number of motor homes parked for free.

May I suggest banning them in this parking area for the sake of the safety of children and other motorists? Maer car park is invariably under-used, would make a suitable base camp and would also be a useful source of income for EDDC.
