A retiring Budleigh dentist has served up some funds for Hospiscare with a Big Devon Bake Off.
Paul Maslen welcomed former patients and friends to the event, to mark his retirement after 30 years’ practice.
The afternoon started with cream teas, before the entries were lined up for the ‘dental themed’ cake competition.
The cakes entered included an enormous molar, a dental chair, and a patient made of icing, with toothbrushes also featuring heavily.
Paul judged the cakes and chose Jodie Parker’s pink-iced dentures as the winner, with Di Baker’s ‘liquorice decay’ in second place.
The event raised £170 for Hospiscare.
The Maslen family said they would like to thank MJ Baker Foodservice Ltd, who kindly donated ingredients for the day’s baking, and The Salterton Arms, McMillans Delicatessen and Delytes Delicatessen, who supplied prizes for the competition.
