THE post mortems have been carried out on a man and woman from Aylesbeare who were found dead at their home on Monday night.

Details of the post mortems are yet to be revealed, but it is believed the man murdered his former partner before committing suicide.

Officers discovered the bodies of a 51-year-old man and a woman, aged 48, at a property at Oak Road on Monday night after the police received a call from someone concerned for the woman's welfare.

Officers have launched a major investigation into the incident, but say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

The pair, named locally as Paul Green and Claire White, are believed to have lived in the village for about 15 years.

Police are yet to reveal how they died, but the Journal understands the woman suffered a knife attack and the man killed himself.

It is believed the woman had been away from the house for several weeks.

It is understood she returned home on Monday, and the bodies were found later the same day.

Police sealed off the detached house as forensic officers combed the premises for clues into the double death.

Officers have carried out house-to-house inquiries in the village.
