Supporters and friends of Exmouth Sea Cadets gathered to recognise the group's achievements at an annual awards night.

Staff from the cadet unit, which is based in Camperdown Terrace, get together every year to discuss which cadets deserve recognition.

The only award which the staff do not decide is the cadets’ cadet award, the winner of which is chosen by the other cadets.

Seven cadets also recently took part in the Devon district seamanship and marine engineering competition. Both the seamanship and engineering teams won second place overall.

Cadet award winners were:

Junior cadet of the year – Rupert Gaukroger.

Commando Spirit Award – Hannah Pearcey and Emily Trayler.

Best Field Skills Award – Max Wiseman.

Turnout and Discipline Award – Hannah Pearcey and Emily Trayler.

Boating Award – Emily Trayler.

Best dressed male – Kai Brockway.

Award for assistance – Ryan Howard and Bradley New.
