AN AWARD-winning Topsham cafe owner recently celebrated 20 years in business and has vowed not to hang up her tea cosy just yet.

Heather Knee, 65, who runs the Georgian Tea Room, celebrated two decades at the popular cafe earlier this month.

Mrs Knee, who has scooped a number of awards for customer service and the standard of her food and cream teas, joked: "The customers will be horrified if I give it all up.

"I only planned to do this for five years at first but it has been my love for cooking that has kept me going."

Mrs Knee, a trained nurse who worked as a ward sister earlier in her life, added: "I believe we have kept the same quality (at the cafe) over the years which has kept people coming back.

"People come from far and wide to visit the tea rooms."

In another significant cause for celebration, Mrs Knee said her husband, Gerald, recently turned 70-years-old.

"It has been a landmark couple of weeks," she said.
