MORE than £2,000 was raised for Raymond at an auction last Friday that sold everything and anything – including, quite literally the kitchen sink!
Eighty people turned out at the Pavilion raising £2148 - and that doesn’t include ticket sales which are still being totted up.
On offer were donated items including a bath room suite, football tickets for Exeter City, an eco-friendly Henry Hoover, a spa day at Devon Cliffs, designer bags as well as vouchers, driving lessons and a cordless drill - the bathroom suite alone raised £1,000.
Guests were Mayor Darryl Nicholas and town crier Roger Bourgein who began as auctioneer, a role later in the evening taken on by Raymond’s mum Vanessa.
She said: “I was so nervous, but as the night went on it got a lot easier.”
Entertainment was provided was provided by the band Eventine and Ian Boyd, while the kids were enamoured for an hour by a cohort of Romans.
She added: “Darryl and Roger were great and the Roman’s were amazing. The kids had so much fun. Raymond really loved them.
“And Ian Boyd, what a talent. Thank you so much to everybody who turned out and donated towards the auction.”
