Before folk get too excited about a new supermarket, give a thought to the increase in the volume of traffic which will thunder down the A376. You have only to see the traffic at Tesco and AsdA in Newton Abbot to understand that all those in favour of this development have vastly underestimated the sheer numbers of lorries and cars that will be coming into the town. I have no doubt that the estuary park should be used for something. Why not a new hospital, now that is a sensible and worthwhile use of the land, and who would oppose that? Make no mistake, a 40,000 sq ft supermarket selling white goods and clothes will kill this town stone dead in a matter of months. Mike Trelawney,277 Iona Avenue,Exmouth.
