REGARDING your recent article entitled 'ASDA on EXE - hell, yeah!' What is all the fuss about? If people are worried that visitors and Exmouth people cannot see the view of The Exe from the road or railway if Asda build on the car park site, ask Asda to pay for the railway track and the road to be moved over next to the river and the view of the mud flats, then Asda can build on the road that is there now and everybody will be happy. Most of the people who are against the proposal have probably never even shopped at Asda and found what a wonderful shop it is. Tesco needs the competition, or is everybody happy to carry on paying their prices - they have the monopoly. Petrol alone is 5p a litre cheaper in Exeter and Newton Abbot because of the competition of the other supermarkets. All it takes is for the railway and the road to follow the river edge from the end of Exmouth Town Football Club to the rugby club, and the whole car park can be used for the proposals. I would think all the people living in town would love to shop without the car or getting on the bus to Tesco. Why can't Exmouth people work together to better the town for the future generation, instead of moaning about what goes where and who is to blame if it does? Bob Herbert, Little Meadow, Exmouth.
